Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply if I'm not currently serving as a GSG Senator?

Yes! All USC graduate students are welcome to apply.

What are the requirements to be able to apply?

You must be a programming fee-paying USC graduate student. For Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, this line item appears in your USC bill as "GRAD Programming Fee."

Where can I find more information on executive board positions?

Here! https://bit.ly/GSGEboardPositions

What does the application/submission process entail?

The application consists of three parts: (1) a GSG standards agreement, (2) personal information, and (3) five short answer questions.

Can you provide feedback on my application?

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to provide individual feedback to candidates who do not move forward in the hiring process.

What are the expectations of a GSG Executive Board member?

The President and Senior Vice President positions require 10 hours/week, Vice President positions require 7.5 hours/week, and Director positions require 5 hours/week fulfilling the responsibilities of that position. You are expected to work for a full academic year starting May 2025 (Commencement).

Is this a paid position?

Yes! All Executive Board members shall receive compensation for their services, the amount of which shall be determined by the Bylaws but shall not fall below the equivalent of the cost of one (1) tuition unit—as determined by the University of Southern California each year—per semester.

Please note: students with financial aid packages have had some complications with receiving a GSG stipend on the same pay schedule as those without financial aid. The stipend amount is guaranteed, but may be paid on a different/inconsistent schedule. We are working with USG and Campus Activities to fix this issue. Any inquiries about stipends should be directed to the GSG President at gsgpres@usc.edu.
