We at Association of Indian Students indulge in everything Indian you bring, and locate amidst our diversities what we all have in common. We dance away to desi beats, splash colors on our faces, gulp those gol gappas off a saucer, sing the national anthem, and watch with bated breath as Dhoni smashes that last ball into the stands. And until the summons from home becomes too loud to ignore, we keep you connected to your roots.

Food is a key way of understanding a culture and an even better way to create meaningful relationships. We want to quite literally 'break bread' with our peers and engage with our student body through a shared enthusiasm and curiosity of our respective cuisine and cultures. Trying different or new foods can be a whole adventure, it can be daunting yet very exciting. We want to encourage people to open their minds to trying new things because after all you never know what you'll really like until you try it.

Our main initiative is to spark conversation, in a world that nowadays is so divided and defined by labels, we wanted to create an open atmosphere where people can transcend cultural barriers and truly get to know one another. Keck Art Club is an organization that was founded by medical students to encourage, explore, and celebrate the collaboration between art x medicine. With the generous support of Keck artist-in-residence, Ted Meyer, Keck Art Club has hosted several Figure Drawing Workshops in the past and a Paint Night last semester. Keck Art Club welcomes all students to participate in our events, no prior art experience is required. This coming year, we hope to create more diverse experiences for medical students to engage with the arts. We currently have a few ideas in the works such as more Paint Nights, art museum visits, jewelry making, and cookie decorating!
