Descent is the University of Southern California’s premier APISA (Asian Pacific Islander and South Asian) literary and arts publication. We elevate APISA voices through our semesterly magazine and co-develop a platform to showcase the diversity of artwork, stories and talents of APISA creators at USC.

Our team is primarily comprised of visual designers, creative writers, writing editors, multimedia creators, and digital marketers. All experience levels are welcome to apply!

1. All members will gain a comprehensive understanding of producing and publishing a magazine in both print and digital forms. By the end of each semester, members will have 1-2 new portfolio pieces to showcase.

Our goal is to permanently end rural poverty through new medical and economic developments that ensure long lasting impact. As an organization, we strive to provide students with hands-on volunteering and shadowing opportunities to bring attention to public health disparities and improve worldwide health care sustainability. During break, our organization travels to rural communities of either Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Greece, Panama, and Ghana to volunteer among medical professionals to provide essential medical services. During the semester, we hold medical workshops, fundraisers, general body meetings, volunteering events, guest speakers, and socials to build our GMB community on campus.

Our Collegiate Council of LULAC is dedicated to advancing the educational attainment, political influence, and the civil rights of Latinos through impactful community service projects. The League of United Latin American Citizens is the oldest Latino civil rights organization in the United States, and our Council seeks to carry on their legacy by mobilizing and serving our local community. Our primary goal is to address educational disparities and provide resources to public schools and nonprofits that allow students to strive academically. In addition, we aim to promote civic engagement by spreading awareness about issues facing Latinos, increasing voter registration, and hearing paths to success from empowering Latino speakers. We aim to provide USC students with access to career advancement opportunities, provided by LULAC National such as invitations to National LULAC conferences and the ability to apply for internships and scholarships.

Liberty in North Korea at USC is a university chapter of the international NGO Liberty in North Korea. Our purpose is to advocate for and spread awareness of the issues pertaining to North Korean refugees, the Korean peninsula, and human rights. We have a responsibility to support and assist LiNK HQ by engaging in educational activities and fundraising.

LiNK at USC hopes to support refugee populations by shifting the focus of our activism to the real history, politics, and conflicts that have led to North Korea’s present-day situation through an unfiltered and critical perspective.

LiNK at USC strives to cooperate with other on- and off-campus organizations to foster mutual solidarity and raise awareness of the interconnectedness of North Korean refugees’ issues with those of other groups.
