Joining an ERG can be a transformative experience. You can join a supportive community and share in an inclusive space that celebrates diverse voices. ERGs drive meaningful change and help create a more inclusive workplace culture. Read more from members and leaders on how Viterbi ERGs have impacted them.

Being a part of the Black Employee Resource Group (BERG) helped to enforce the idea that I am a part of a community at Viterbi. It has given me the chance to connect with people outside of my department and better understand how each unit contributes to the school's mission. I've met great people that I feel comfortable discussing both the triumphs and challenges of profession and society.

BERG

The Black Employee Resource Group (BERG) has been a vital space for Black Viterbi employees to build community and connect across working groups and divisions. Since its founding in 2020 by Rhesa Singleton, being part of this organization has profoundly enriched my personal and professional growth, adding depth to my experience as a Viterbi employee. The group’s initiatives and culturally centered events have not only celebrated Blackness but also provided a platform to educate and unite the larger Viterbi community. It’s hard to imagine a time before the BERG existed, and now, I can’t envision Viterbi without its presence. I eagerly anticipate the future and all the incredible achievements this group will accomplish as we move forward!

BERG

The BERG has provided a space to express yourself. As the first ERG, the BERG set the standard. This group has achieved many things over the years. Their events always highlight local vendors and restaurants that I grew up around, which makes this Angeleno feel at home on campus. The connections made are timeless and helpful when navigating the full scope of Viterbi's mission. Thanks to the Berg, Rhesa, Kevin, Jamal, and Darin for keeping this group together.

Having a space where I can be my full, authentic self without masking in any way has been an immeasurable point of relief.

Being part of the ERG has created a platform for me to connect with colleagues from similar backgrounds and share experiences. This has fostered a strong sense of community and belonging within Viterbi. It's like having a built-in network of colleagues who understand my background and experiences.
