Research and Fellowships Week
Academic Programs present the 8th Annual Research and Fellowships Week, October 31 – November 4, 2022. Research and Fellowships Week is an annual event hosted by USC’s Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Programs. The goal of the week is to discuss opportunities that support research, graduate study, language learning, teaching, and internships within the U.S. and abroad.
Open to students of all academic levels, staff and faculty, attendees participate in interactive panels and workshops to explore USC programs and external post-graduate possibilities.

Fellowships 101: How to Get Started in Undergraduate Funding Opportunities

Target Audience: Undergraduates
This session will provide an overview of internal and external funding opportunities managed by USC’s Academic Honors and Fellowships. Participants will learn the general components of fellowship applications and how to identify awards that align with their personal and professional interests. Participants will also hear from USC fellowship recipients (Boren, Gilman, Pickering, Princeton in Africa) about their experiences.
Thesis Center Information Session

USC Shaeffer Fellows: Funded Summer Internships in Government Service

Target Audience: Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors (not graduating)
The Leonard D. Schaeffer Fellows in Government Service program exposes undergraduates to government work and its impact through 10-week, full-time, high-level internship placements with elected officials and agencies at the federal, state, and local levels. Ten USC students are selected annually to receive a $5,500 fellowship stipend, join a national cohort with students from four other universities, and participate in professional development, including full funding to attend the Schaeffer Fellows Summit in D.C. Learn more about the internship opportunities funded by the program, how to apply, and what you can gain from the experience. Eligibility: Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors (not graduating).
USC Scholar Distinctions

This session will provide an overview of the USC Renaissance, Global, and Discovery Scholar Distinction and Prize application process. Participants will learn about eligibility, selection criteria and also hear from 2022 award recipients.

STEM Scholarships and Fellowships

Target Audience: Undergraduates
This session will cover academic opportunities for folks interested in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. We will hear from Trojans who received the Astronaut Scholarship, Goldwater Scholarship, Provost Undergraduate Research Fellowship, SURF/SOAR, and NSF-Graduate Research Fellowship Program.
Chasing Dreams: How the Fisher Fellowship Puts First-Gen Students ‘On the Map’ in Exchange for Volunteer Service

Target Audience: First-Year, Sophomore, & Junior-Level Dornsife Majors
The Fisher Fellowship enables first-generation Trojans with financial need to participate more fully in the co-curricular opportunities that enrich one’s USC education. In exchange for service, our Fellows earn funding for semester abroad programs, travel to academic conferences, Maymesters, select Alternate Breaks programs, etc. Our student panelists discuss how the Fisher Fellowship has transformed their college experience. 
Global Fellows Internship Program Office Hours

Target Audience: Undergraduates
The USC Career Center manages the Global Fellows Internship Program which provides funding for USC undergraduates to intern in Asia for at least eight weeks during the summer. Students are selected through an application and interview process. Internships are likely to be available in commercial, political, and cultural centers such as Osaka, Seoul, and Tokyo. This highly competitive program is a great opportunity to develop international work and cultural immersion experience in Asia. We hope you will learn more about the program and gain tips on how to apply!

This session will provide an overview of internal and external funding opportunities that are available for undergraduate non-U.S. citizens. Participants will learn the general components of the application process and how Academic Honors and Fellowships can offer guidance. Participants will also hear from USC international students funding recipients about their experiences.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Target Audience: Undergraduates, Masters, PhDs
The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides funding to carry out a research project, graduate study or teach English for an academic year in over 140 countries outside of the United States with the goal of mutual exchange. We’ll hear from recent Fulbright alumni as well as current recipients carrying out their projects abroad. *U.S. citizenship required
