Theatre for Dialogue

Theatre for Dialogue: An engaging and interactive evening about navigating challenging conversations. 

Join us for the latest USC Open Dialogue Project event: Theatre for Dialogue, an engaging and interactive evening that brings the USC community together to explore what it means to navigate challenging moments with curiosity, courage, and care. Through live performances by the USC School of Dramatic Arts, including Ahmed Best – the actor who played Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars franchise, students will be invited into realistic situations that do not always have easy answers, then become part of the experience by discussing choices, shaping how scenes unfold, and considering different perspectives alongside fellow Trojans.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes early because the show starts promptly at 6:00pm.

Learn more about  organizations fostering dialogue among Trojans, such as USC Open Dialogue Project, Residential Education,Institute for Theatre and Social Change, and Center for the Political Future.  

Following the theatrical performance and discussion, there will be a spotlight feature on the student advisory board of the Open Dialogue Project. They will share stories about tough conversations that changed their lives. 

Then stay tuned for a rowdy panel conversation about how and why to improve communication so it results in connection vs. frustration. USC students, staff, and faculty will talk honestly about their own challenges in sharing their views and identities on campus, and what measures they have taken to keep an open mind and remain curious. Panelists will include: Kamy Akhavan(moderator), Managing Director of the USC Dornsife Center for the Political Future; Julie Rousseau, USC Senior Associate Athletic Director; and Varun Soni, USC Dean of Religious Life.

The program is a collaboration among USC Open Dialogue Project, Residential Education, Institute for Theatre and Social Change, and Center for the Political Future. 

Open to all USC students, staff and faculty.
