Mission Our mission is to improve medical literacy in both the USC and greater LA metropolitan area. We aim to do this through a bi-annual magazine that explores pressing medical issues and the resources available to quail such problems. The magazine will be an undergraduate magazine that addresses medically relevant issues, education, research, and art. The magazine will comprise of four sections: 1) novel medical research within the USC community (in the form of interviews, overviews of current USC research and published articles/journals), 2) explaining pertinent technology within the emerging medical field (this could be something as simple as "What is CRISPR" to explaining "How models of empathy are built and monitored"),3) any artistic mediums that are inspired by medicine and its practice (poems, personal-essays, dance, etc.), 4) and lastly, the education portion, which would aim at elucidating any college-specific health related issues (mental health resources on campus, STD treatment on campus, updates on COVID-19 conditions on campus and the respective measures in place). Furthermore, the magazine will be translated into Spanish, so that we are able to reach LA's Spanish-speaking population.
Membership BenefitsMembership is cohort-based, so one is able to benefit from a close knit community, amazing writing opportunities, and improving the multiple communities (e.g. South LA, USC, and Spanish speakers) through medical education. Likewise, there is always the prospect of cool merchandise.
